Sunshine and blue sky. We cruise across the Engadine passes, enjoying the picturesque mountain scenery and finally come to stop in St. Moritz straight in the front of the Kempinski Grand Hôtel des Bains. The car door opens while I’m still grabbing for all my belongings and a concierge friendly smiles at me. “Good afternoon”.
In his company we step into the white building with its ice-blue shutters, through the lobby right in direction to the reception. As for the welcome we get another warm “Good afternoon” and a homemade (delicious!) ice tea – then we’re off to the room. Wait. Room? Not really!
The Corvatsch Tower, as our accommodation is called, is actually a two-floor residence that offers four suites – each with an own bath and dressing room – an extensive living room, workroom (misused by me as a workout room) and a kitchen. A real apartment actually and that distributed over 450qm. Sounds impressive? It is impressive! If the anatomy of a human body would allow, my jaw probably would have dropped to the floor. But you better build your own opinion by scrolling down the dozens of photos bellow!
As an art director and blogger I have a strong connection to everything visual, so design is important everywhere – hotels make no exception. I like high ceilings, stucco, pretentious big chairs etc, but I also love minimalism. I like tradition but also modernity. Give me the right amount of everything – like Kempinski – and I’m happy. But mostly I want to feel like home! Right here we are at the other important point if we talk about a perfect hotel: The service.
Pommes at 3AM, a vegan companion, pretty much a chaos in the suite, fruit and smoothie breaky and a collagen mask in the suite? No problem at all! The hotel staff answered all our wishes with passion. So what can I say? Except: Thanks Paul, Thanks Kempinski for having us. We will gladly come back again.
Sonnenschein und blauer Himmel. Wir düsen über die Bündner Pässe, geniessen die malerische Berglandschaft und kommen schlussendlich in St. Moritz, direkt vor dem Kempinski Grand Hôtel des Bains zum Stehen. Die Autotür öffnet sich noch während ich meine sieben Sachen zusammen krame, und ein Portier lächelt mir freundlich entgegen. «Grüeziwohl».
In seiner Begleitung treten wir in das weisse Gebäude mit den eisblauen Fensterläden, durch die Lobby und direkt auf die Rezeption zu. Zur Begrüssung gibt’s ein weiteres «Grüeziwohl» und einen hausgemachten (köstlichen!) Eistee – dann geht’s ab aufs Zimmer. Moment. Zimmer? Nicht ganz!
Der Corvatsch Tower, wie sich unsere Unterkunft nennt, ist eigentlich eine zweistöckige Residenz und bietet vier Suiten – mit je einem eigenem Bad und Ankleide – ein grossflächiges Wohnzimmer, Arbeitszimmer (von mir als Workout Zimmer missbraucht) und eine Küche. Ein richtiges Apartment also und das verteilt über 450qm. Klingt beeindruckend? Ist es auch! Würde es die Anatomie des menschlichen Körpers zulassen, wäre meine Kinnlade vermutlich bis zum Boden heruntergefallen. Aber macht euch doch am Besten selbst ein Bild davon und scrollt euch gleich durch die geballte Menge an Fotos!
Als Art Director und Bloggerin achte ich mich automatisch stark auf das Visuelle, das Design – da machen Hotels keine Ausnahme. Ich mag hohe Decken, Stuck, pompöse, breite Sessel. Ich mag aber auch Minimalismus. Ich mag Tradition gemixt mit Moderne. Von allem das richtige Mass. Aber vor allem will ich mich zuhause fühlen. Wobei wir schon bei dem zweiten ebenso wichtigen Punkt sind wenn es um Hotels geht – Nein, nicht das Essen. Das war aber auch klasse – Der Service!
Pommes um 3 Uhr nachts, eine vegane Begleiterin, Chaos pur in unserer Suite, Früchte-Smoothie-Morgenessen und Collagen-Maske in der Suite? Alles kein Problem! Das Hotelpersonal kümmert sich um jedes Bedürfnis und erfüllt mit Passion jegliche Extrawünsche. Was soll ich da noch sagen? Ausser: Danke Paul, Danke Kempinski. Wir kommen gerne wieder!
