Tutorial: Quick & Easy Festival Hairstyle (for short hair)

Hell yeah, the festival season in Switzerland and probably in many other countries, has started and I oh-so-am so ready! Outfitwise since a while already, as you might have already seen in but now also in terms of hairstyling, although my new, short hair challenged me quite a bit.

Almost 5 months ago I spontaneously had my long hair cut off and now I was faced with the question: “How do you actually style short hair for a festival? After all, I NEVER wore my hair short my entire life and am generally still slightly overtaxed when it comes to doing something creative with it. Nevertheless, I love my new short hair, because it saves me a lot of time every morning and time is quite important to me, so I’ve been using the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer for years now, because it dries my hair so much faster than my previous hair dryers thanks to its super strong airflow. It also doesn’t damage the hair with extreme heat, but automatically adjusts the temperature when the airflow gets too warm thanks to intelligent temperature regulation that measures the warmth 20 times per second.

I mean, in summer my hair gets enough heat – especially at festivals – and it get quickly damaged due to that. Did you know, for example, that the hair becomes lighter in summer because the hair is loosing melanin? This not only causes the hair to lose its color, but also makes it more susceptible, as melanin also protects the hair from UV damage. So, girl, always take care of your hair even and make sure to use the right hair dryer – by the way, I also often wear hats in summer to prevent it from heat damage!

So, back to the actual topic, the festival hairstyle, which of course not only works for short hair, but also for long hair. I find the hairstyle not only visually super suitable for festivals, but also practical – not only because it’s really fast and easy to do yourself – but also because it keeps the hair out of your face. We all know, hair can be really annoying when dancing and it tends to stick to your sweaty (or rain-covered) face. A little personal tip on the side, for everyone who not only watch the concerts at festivals without moving a single part of your body but rather dance and jump around: I recommend to use A LOT of bobby pins, so that everything stays in place ;)

Easy festival hairstyle:
1. I started doing this hairstyle with washed, still wett hair
2. Use the Dyson hairdryer and the “smoothing nozzle” to slightly dry the hair
3. Create soft curls with the “styling nozzle” and a round brush
4. Use the “Diffusor” to cool down the curls with a cold airflow
5. Tie two ponytails, omit one strand of hair in front
6. Braid the omitted strand of hair into a plait
7. Braid a small plait on each side of the head
8. Tie all three braids together at the back of the head
9. Now braid the three little braids together
10. Tease your ponytails with a comb for extra volume, …
11. twist the ponytails and twist them around themselves
12. and fix them with lots and lots of bobby pins
Optional: Use accessories, e.g. rings, to make the hairstyle even more festival-perfect!

5. Zwei Pferdeschwänze binden, vorne eine Haarsträhne auslassen
6. Die ausgelassene Haarsträhne zu einem Zopf flechten
7. An beiden Seiten des Kopfes je einen kleinen Zopf flechten
8. Alle drei Zöpfe am Hinterkopf zusammenbinden
9. Die drei kleinen Zöpfe zusammenflechten
10. Pferdeschwänze mit einem Kamm toupieren,…
11. eindrehen, einmal um sich selber wickeln…
12. und mit genug Haarnadeln feststecken.
Optional: Mit Accessoires, z.B. Ringe, die Frisur noch Festivalmässiger machen!
